The March 2009 workshop on the fundamentals of trail design and layout was well attended by a range of user groups. We had almost 50 participants for the morning trail design and layout lecture and nearly 20 participants for the afternoon practicum. Equestrians, mountain bikers, agency personnel, and a few hikers attended the workshop.
Karl Knapp and his team provided a wealth of information about how to develop sustainable trails that work for both human and non-human user groups, including the plants and animals that live among established and planned trail systems.
Thanks to SLOPOST for providing significant funding to make this training a reality.
